I've been thinking about this subject for a long time after watching that Lizzie Mguire move continuing from the ending of the series, and its story bothered me quite a bit. The plot is the same like any of the Disney movies: The girl meets a handsome boy therefore she falls in love.. etc, etc. While this is indeed Disney we're talking about but the fact still remains, that the entire story of this movie bothers me to no end because the character known as Lizzie takes a trip to Rome with her class after graduating from middle school. Lizzie predictably meets the boy of her dreams and falls in love with him while touring Rome. Throughout the entire movie, she has her friends covering for her while she sneaks around with this boy called Paolo whom is a pop star. Lizzie is the splitting image of another pop star called Isabella. She ends up getting in deep until later on it turns out Paolo is simply using her for his own personal gain. In the end another predictable scene is where everything goes perfectly for her Lizze, but she did get grounded towards the end for her own actions.
I think that movies like these give off the wrong message like it doesn't even begin with how dangerous it is to be running around in a foreign country with a boy that Lizzie barely even knew for two days let alone he could have hurt her or worse. I just don't like the idea of how despite doing dumb crap in the end nothing too terrible happens to a character. This is Disney after all again but it bothered me.
Am I over analyzing this?

It's wrong how they skim the issue that the girl basically runs off with a guy she doesn't even know in a foreign country. That's how bad things happen.

Ni I don't think you were over analyzing it. I've seen that movie several times when I was younger, and I always wanted to Rome to find a boy to run around with. I can now say that I don't think that will happen any longer, but fans of Lizzie Maguire will be sure to run off wit a boy they find there thinking love will happen. Nowadays that's just a bit to dangerous.
